The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control, in collaboration with the Health Affairs at the Ministry of National Guard in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, organized a specialized workshop titled “Antimicrobial Stewardship and Governance: Reporting and Managing Antimicrobial Resistance”, held in the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday, October 8, 2025.
The workshop aimed to discuss the Gulf guidelines on reporting and managing antimicrobial resistance, review the Gulf systems dedicated to surveillance and monitoring, and highlight the key challenges faced by the GCC countries in this field.
It also addressed the regional strategies for infection control and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise among member states, contributing to the development of national capacities and supporting regional policies to tackle the growing challenges of antimicrobial resistance.
This workshop comes as part of the Gulf Center’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Gulf health security and unify regional efforts to combat common health threats.
